Katonah Yoga® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over the past 40 plus years. This practice incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.

Expect more of a break down and workshop style, as well as physical adjustments.  This practice will get you to the places you didn’t even know we weren’t going to.

BUILDING STRENGTH FOR ARM BALANCES AND INVERSIONS with ARI HALBERT

MAY 3, 2020 12 - 2 pm

Wanting to build strength and confidence balancing on your hands? This fun and challenging workshop will teach you the tools and tricks necessary to get there. The workshop will lay the foundations for you to progress safely and easily and find lightness in a wide variety of arm balances. Some of the poses covered will be forearm stand, crow, handstand, reverse crow, and the “tripsichore” arm balance.

We will go over how to protect your wrists within your yoga practice, how to build the requisite strength specific to each arm balance, the optimal alignment of each posture, and how to use props to assist in learning the movements.
This workshop is for all levels and will benefit everyone from students just learning how to bring weight safely onto to their hands, to teachers who are interested in learning how to guide their students through these poses. It requires only a willingness to show up, try your best, and be open to a new approach!
